The Heart of My Work: Healing Leadership & Generational Trauma

At the centre of everything I do is one clear purpose: to help people heal and to lead in a way that supports others in doing the same.

This work is deeply personal for me. I’ve seen firsthand how generational trauma shapes lives—not just in obvious ways but in quiet patterns of behaviour, self-belief, and health. It can affect how we see ourselves, make decisions, and show up in our families, workplaces, and communities.

Generational trauma is exactly what it sounds like: pain and patterns passed down through generations, often without conscious awareness. Left unaddressed, it keeps people stuck. But when we recognise it, we create the chance to stop the cycle.

Why Leadership and Healing Go Together

Leadership isn’t just about strategy or outcomes. It’s about people, and people carry their whole selves into their work and lives, including the weight of past experiences.

Leadership needs to create space for healing. Good leaders understand that you must create environments where people feel safe, valued, and seen if they want to grow. That includes recognising people's invisible burdens and making space for conversations that matter.

In my journey, I’ve learned that acknowledging my history and the stories in my family line hasn’t held me back—it’s given me clarity and strength. When you understand your origins, you can lead yourself and others more effectively.

How This Shows Up in My Work

Whether writing, coaching, speaking, or consulting, I always return to this principle: Leadership should help people heal, and healing allows people to lead.

  • In coaching sessions, I help clients unpack not only their goals but also the patterns that might be holding them back.

  • In my writing, I explore the impacts of trauma on individuals and communities and how we can move toward personal and collective healing.

  • In consulting, I help organisations create cultures that value human well-being as much as performance.

This work isn’t just theoretical. It’s practical, and it’s needed.

Moving Forward

I believe we need more leaders who are willing to look beneath the surface, ask the harder questions, and meaningfully support their teams and communities.

Through my writing, speaking, and future workshops, I aim to keep creating spaces for that work to happen. The more we understand the impact of generational trauma, the better equipped we are to break cycles and create lasting change.

Because when people heal, they lead differently.
And when leaders heal, they create healthier, stronger communities.
